I was lucky enough to be one of the first people to get a Leica M10-R!

I’m really excited to run it through it’s paces. I am finding that my older lenses might be outperformed by the new sensor in this camera. Maybe that means I need to think about upgrading some of those and use the older ones for film.

I can say without a doubt that the leica family of cameras has become a bit of an obsession at this point. I remember taking my then boyfriend, now husband, on a mission to find tamarkin Camera in chicago to look at leicas. We didn’t have a store in Seattle at that point, and finding a store was like a pilgrimage. It’s absolutely a luxury, not Practical, and I know I am super lucky to be able to enjoy these cameras. There’s something incredibly satisfying about the manual process of using an M. Feeling the click of the aperture as it moves, lining up the rangefinder, and working on my distance guessing for zone focusing all makes me feel like i’m operating the camera and that my shots are my own.

I’ll share more images and impressions soon, but here are a few of the first images just walking around the block.

*Note that the cover image for this post was shot with a 35mm Summicron Aspheric.
